This craft is inspired by one of my toddler's favorite book - "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". It narrates the story of a caterpillar who eats its way through a wide variety of foodstuffs before pupating and emerging as a butterfly.
In addition to it's prepossessing visual illustration, this is a great book to teach counting, the days of the week, foods, and a butterfly's life stages to kids.
Books have an enormous influence on kids. I am amazed to see how my tot understands that gigantic feast can make her ill, similar to the way caterpillar had a stomachache after eating too much in the book.
Hands down, this is one of the best book we have on shelf for our tot.

MATERIALS
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Draw and cut five circles from green and 1 circle from pink paper. (Size: 4.5cm diameter)
2. Draw and cut the shapes for the eye, ear, mouth, and legs as shown below.
3. Glue the circle together making the body of the caterpillar.
4. Glue the eyes, ear, and mouth to the body
4. Finally, glue legs to the caterpillar's body.
5. We transformed it into a finger puppet for my tot to play with it. To do so, make a 1.5cm hole in the middle two circles of the caterpillar's body such that your kid is able to comfortably put in the fingers.
