Cardstock Paper

Glue
Salt
Watercolors
Scissor
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Cut out the shapes of buildings from different colors of construction papers.
Step 2: Add the details like windows & doors to the paper building using a black marker.
Step 3: Glue the buildings on a cardstock paper making the skyline.
Step 4: Draw the outline of fireworks and trace the fireworks with glue.
Step 5: Sprinkle salt on the fireworks. Make sure to cover the glue completely with salt.
Step 6: Shake off any excess salt from your artwork and store it for future projects.
Step 7: Now is the time for some magic with watercolors. We used this basic watercolor set. Wet your paintbrush and take a little bit of watercolor at a time. Gently tap on salt with the paintbrush and the salt will soak up the watercolor from your brush & spread.
My 4-year-old daughter tends to pour a lot of water on the colors and ends up wasting color. I have heard so many good things about these water brushes but have never tried them.
Unlike regular brushes, the handle of the water brush has a container designed to hold water. You can simply squeeze the handle to easily control the water flow.
Have you tried water brushes? Do let me know in the comments - would love to get some feedback.
Enjoy this fun technique with kids. Happy Crafting!
